I hope the students enjoyed all the rotations last week. They learned about a different explorer with each third grade teacher. It is a fun way for them to have a more in depth experience about each one. Make sure and ask about your child's favorite explorer and see if they can tell you a few facts.
OTHER QUESTIONS TO ASK: What does Point of View mean? What pronouns do you use if you are writing from your own point of view? How do you find the Perimeter of an object? The area? REMEMBER: * Third grade parents are invited to come watch STEAM in action this Wed., March 13 from 8-9:30. We are in specials until 9, but you are welcome to see other grade levels until then. *Wednesday is also Early Release. Students are dismissed at 12:30. *Our Auction is THIS Friday. Only one child has sent in an item so far. Thanks for getting those in this week! *Your child should be thinking about what problem they want to solve for Invention Convention. They will draw a prototype in ILC before Spring Break. THIS WEEK: Math - Geometry - students explore the attributes of flat shapes and learn LOTS of new vocabulary like - polygon, parallel, quadrilateral, intersecting, angle, vertex, and the names of the shapes. Your child should be practicing 9's now! We are close to the finish line! Make sure your child is with us. Language Arts - We will continue our book study of Peter Pan. Students are learning to analyze a character's actions to determine their motivation. Our writing time will be spent practicing writing responses to reading and reviewing the grammar studied this quarter such as comparative/superlative adjectives and conjunctions. Social Studies - Henry Hudson was the explorer I taught in the rotations, so I will teach that lesson to our class this week. Science - As well as a STEAM morning, students will continue to travel the different regions of GA. This week we will also take third quarter RI, have a Post Writing for Opinion, Guidance lesson and have a class taught by Mrs. Yates on using the tools on the computer to take Milestones. Whew! Have a great week!
