It was a wonderful year and I've loved teaching each of your students. Thank you for the generous end of the year gift and all of the kind words. The most special are the cards from your children. Thanks for those the most!
If you put stamps on the brown registration form envelope then the report card will be mailed to you next week. If you didn't you may pick it up next week. The office is closed from 12-1 for lunch and closes at 3 each day. Remember it is essential for your child to continue reading this summer - a little math fact practice wouldn't hurt either! Have a wonderful summer and please come by and say hello next year! Amy We all had so much fun at camp! Thanks to Mr. Driggers for setting up and taking down such a great tent for us to enjoy. Thanks to all of you for making sure your children had what they needed each day. They loved their boxes and playing/eating all the goodies. The funniest part was explaining to them how the disposable cameras worked. "Can I see the picture I took now?" and "Why can't I take any more pictures?" were the 2 most common questions. I hope when you have them developed they have some pictures! Some were quite snap happy. All the treats came home today in their new camp bags. Also, thanks to our great PE teachers and our volunteers for planning and running a fabulous field day. It was a busy week, but I think all had a great time. The students have cleaned out their desks - they should have the leftover pages from 2 math textbooks. We do a lot more hands on math activities and not many worksheets, so there are a lot of pages left for them to use to review this summer. Enjoy the slide show below of some of the students opening their packages. I have a video so you can hear the squeals and joys, but will have to send it a different way. Can't post videos on this without upgrading - :) REMINDERS: Monday - students need to bring their yearbooks back to school (those that don't have a yearbook have a Memory Book at school) for the 3rd grade yearbook signing. They may also bring a SODA of their choice to enjoy while we watch Tale of Desperaux (this is the treat they voted on after they filled up their last compliment bucket). Tuesday is the class talent show. If students still want to sign up they may do so on Monday. Wednesday - students DO NOT bring their book bags or lunch boxes to school. Lunches should be in disposable items. Tuesday and Wednesday are early release days. Our lunch time has changed to 11:21 on Tuesday and 11:17 on Wednesday. I wouldn't plan on eating lunch with your child on either of those days because we might be eating in the room. As I mentioned in my email the inventions were fabulous and I was very impressed by the thought that had gone into them. The power point presentations were equally impressive. If you didn't see your child's on his/her flash drive make sure you check it out this summer. The students did vote on their top three choices. Congratulations to Logan Gavino/Alessio Lois, Josie Keserica, and Finn Roche for winning in our class. They will repeat their presentations to outside judges on Monday morning and we will have a winner for all of third grade. I'm sure one day I'll purchase something invented by someone in this class.
It's May which is a month that rivals December for fun activities, dates to remember, and lists to make. How did I ever teach without post its - both physical and on my laptop? Please be sure to check the list below so you and your child won't miss out on any of the fun! REMINDERS: - Class talent show - Tuesday, May 23 (no Target that day). Fliers went home that your child has to return to me to be able to participate. I can't wait! - Recycling projects due Thursday, May 18. I know we just had invention convention, but it is a camp tradition and they love seeing all the projects from all the classes. Flyers have also come home about that. - Author's Tea - Friday, May 12 from 7:30-8:30 am in our classroom. Prepare to be entertained and impressed! Thanks to those of you that have signed up to bring in food. - Your child will bring home a slip of paper today asking you to donate a specific food for the trail mix we make during Camp Learned - A- Lot. Thanks for sending it in if you can. NEXT WEEK: Reading/Writing - We'll be finishing all the poems and will practice reading them aloud (with the microphone). We also have a few county tests we have to take, but those won't be nearly as lengthy as Milestones. Math - We will continue to practice those multiplication facts and a few students might even get a chance to try a multiplication challenge. Students will also continue to work on 2-step problem solving and deciding which of the 4 operations to use, as well as, adding/subtracting with 3 digit and 4 digit numbers. Social Studies/Science - Thurgood Marshall is making a special visit and students will finish the American Heroes Journals they've been working on all year. In science we will explore heat with vocabulary words such as conductors and insulators. Have a great weekend! |
