Thanks for sending in all the sleeping bags, pillows, etc. for RAD day today. Make sure and check out the picture on SeeSaw from before school this morning. That's the only picture we managed because it was a busy day. After math with parents ( and yummy Dr. Seuss cupcakes from Mrs. Cogbill) -students headed off to build monuments with their STEAM buddies and to the Book Fair Preview. They were excited when they finally had time to settle in and read awhile on their sleeping bags again. It gave me a great chance to meet with individual students and help them improve their reading assessments. I will meet with each child before next week's end.
QUESTIONS TO ASK: When you are reading with your child sometime ask them to model how to infer a character's trait, a word meaning, or an important message. About how much does a paper clip weigh? A baseball bat? A Harry Potter book? A dollar bill? About how much liquid is a drop of water? A filled average size water bottle? REMEMBER: *Next week is book fair week. Students may shop before school if they bring money. Since I'm retiring and we have SO many books in our class, I did not fill out the form for classroom donations. Instead please buy a book and donate it to LaBelle Elem.(there will be a box by the check out). Those teachers don't have the resources we have here at Tritt. Thanks!! *There is not a parent journal this week. * Blue problem solving sheets for Invention Convention are due Monday. *Opinion speeches are next week. *The next auction is March 15! NEXT WEEK: Math - Students will learn to measure the perimeter of objects and when this would be necessary. They should also be practicing their 8s tables! Language Arts - Students will be finishing their opinion pieces and typing them in the computer lab. In reading we will focus on Point of View and how it effects people's opinions. We will also have fun listening to all of the speeches! Social Studies - It will be a fun week as students rotate through each third grade teacher's class learning about a different explorer in each class. Rotations will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Have a great weekend! Amy
