On Tuesday for our professional development day our key note speaker stressed the impact daily reading has on a student's love of reading and their reading success. Check out the chart to see for yourself. Also scroll down to see pictures of our latest STEM challenge. Our STEM morning on Wed. was successful! Students were challenged to create an earth dwelling that can withstand wind (hair dryer) and rain (water th/a colander). They had a budget of $20. A bag of sand costs $3, soil $5, clay $8, straw $5, a bucket for mixing $3, etc. Sticks and water were free. ALL of the dwellings withstood the wind ( a first for any of my classes) and almost all withstood the rain (just one or two had a leaky roof). Enjoy the pictures and ask your child how his group's dwelling did? How did they work together? What was their strategy and what materials they used?
