As I mentioned in my email the inventions were fabulous and I was very impressed by the thought that had gone into them. The power point presentations were equally impressive. If you didn't see your child's on his/her flash drive make sure you check it out this summer. The students did vote on their top three choices. Congratulations to Logan Gavino/Alessio Lois, Josie Keserica, and Finn Roche for winning in our class. They will repeat their presentations to outside judges on Monday morning and we will have a winner for all of third grade. I'm sure one day I'll purchase something invented by someone in this class.
It's May which is a month that rivals December for fun activities, dates to remember, and lists to make. How did I ever teach without post its - both physical and on my laptop? Please be sure to check the list below so you and your child won't miss out on any of the fun! REMINDERS: - Class talent show - Tuesday, May 23 (no Target that day). Fliers went home that your child has to return to me to be able to participate. I can't wait! - Recycling projects due Thursday, May 18. I know we just had invention convention, but it is a camp tradition and they love seeing all the projects from all the classes. Flyers have also come home about that. - Author's Tea - Friday, May 12 from 7:30-8:30 am in our classroom. Prepare to be entertained and impressed! Thanks to those of you that have signed up to bring in food. - Your child will bring home a slip of paper today asking you to donate a specific food for the trail mix we make during Camp Learned - A- Lot. Thanks for sending it in if you can. NEXT WEEK: Reading/Writing - We'll be finishing all the poems and will practice reading them aloud (with the microphone). We also have a few county tests we have to take, but those won't be nearly as lengthy as Milestones. Math - We will continue to practice those multiplication facts and a few students might even get a chance to try a multiplication challenge. Students will also continue to work on 2-step problem solving and deciding which of the 4 operations to use, as well as, adding/subtracting with 3 digit and 4 digit numbers. Social Studies/Science - Thurgood Marshall is making a special visit and students will finish the American Heroes Journals they've been working on all year. In science we will explore heat with vocabulary words such as conductors and insulators. Have a great weekend!
