It is no surprise to you that our Milestone Testing begins next Wednesday, April 19th. Your child has probably told you that we've been reviewing and practicing and they are ready! I think they are realizing that some of the questions they've missed are because they didn't read the question or the choices carefully enough. They are also realizing how much they've learned this year! They know how to write narrative, informative, and opinion pieces, how to read 2 articles and compare the content, and to use clues to infer meanings of words and predict what would happen next. Of course, that's just a few of the main concepts they are ready to do next week! Next Wed. - Fri are the reading/writing portions of the test with math following the next Mon-Tues. PLEASE make sure your child gets a good night's sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and comes to school after a positive morning at home (I remember that's not always the easiest). Also make sure all snacks are healthy and you might want to send in an extra. Testing begins promptly at 8:00! No one is allowed to enter the room after testing has started. Any child that comes in late has to wait in the media center and make up that part of the test later. The children know this is a great chance to show what they know and they are ready!
REMINDERS: *Read above about testing reminders. *There is no homework beginning Tuesday night, but PLEASE practice those multiplication facts with your child (just in the car, etc.). It is also a great time to work on the Invention Convention project. Next Week - Testing will be over after two hours at the most. Lunch and specials stay the same. We will use the remaining time to unwind with some extra recess and then review for what's coming next. I have lots of games planned to make the reviewing fun. If you celebrate have a Happy Easter and a wonderful spring weekend!
